The St. Patrick's Day Tree

When Christmas was over I decided to keep the tree up and decorate it for each holiday throughout the year. I took all the Christmas decor off and added Valentine's Day decorations. After Valentine's Day, I did a St. Patrick's Day tree filled with little green sparkle hats, shamrocks, charms, silver beads, dark and light green carnations, silver balls and white bows and ribbon. (on right).

As I've mentioned before, Jim and I have delighted in the various holiday trees we've been able to enjoy. They have given soft light and a sense of quiet calm to our home, night after night. They also give one an endless feeling of childhood happiness. I've noticed, when the tree lights are turned off, that part of the room now seems lifeless and dull.

The tree can be seen from the street and I'm sure many of our neighbors think we still have our Christmas tree up, but at my age I don't worry much about what other people think. I care more about living with those things that bring joy and contentment.
***What brings you childlike joy and contentment?

Pat- I did the tax thing last week. Boo! Not fun! But now that it's over, I can get back to my inner-child. Hurry and get those taxes finished and get back to your gorgeous art.

I'm a Flanagan by marriage, but a Wells-O'Neal-McFadden-Kelly-McAleer by heritage. St. Paddy's Day is a big one for us, though we're not much for green beer or corned beef. Mostly we're into family and all things green (emerald is my favorite color, and stone). I DO like your tree!

To this day I love a drive in the country accompanied by a soft ice cream cone. It's something my folks did often, and something I enjoy still.

Kathleen- Driving in the country is so relaxing and with ice cream it's even better.

Even though your favorite color is emerald, I must say you look gorgeous in red.

Darling tree!!!!

I think for me it would be being at the beach. There's a timeless, classic, joy to walking along the shore, breathing the salt air, waves breaking at your feet, finding seashells. Yes, the beach does it for me.

Love your tree! Can't wait to see what you do with Easter!

A walk in the woods is one of my favorite ways to relax. The woods is my sanctuary.

Not caring about what others think is something I really struggle with, but it's another thing I get better at with age. :)

I love your ever-present tree!

I have crayolas and coloring books and paper dolls, these things I still enjoy even if I am just looking at them. I have gotten so old I don't care what people think.

Firstly, what a clever idea for the tree! I would have never thought of something like that! It looks beautiful! Hmmm, for childlike joy I would have to say blowing bubbles! There's nothing that takes me back to my childhood faster than a new bottle of bubbles!

Barb Davis said...

JD- I can understand that, because you make such beautiful "big girl" paper crafts.

Barb Davis said...

LauraLee- Yes, there's always a musical side to that inner-child.

Joanne- Your comment makes me want to take off the beach. I wish there was one here in the inland Northwest!

Cindy- I've always admired those who see nature in creative ways and share their photos with others.

Donna- My husband and I have always loved the woods, too, and have spent many hours enjoying the out-of-doors. We like to walk with God there.

Barb Davis said...

Janna- Bargains! Love 'em, too!!

Barb Davis said...

Leslie- Never give up that inner-child.

Becca- I like DQ, too and with the cherry dip. My favorite. Yummy!!

LiteraryNut- Bubbles.... I haven't done that in several years, but I'll put it on my list for this summer.

Thanks for joining us!

Love it! Do you have a little leprechaun as a tree topper? Can't wait to see your spring/Easter tree, then summer/4th of July. Once did a beach themed tree with sand dollars and shells I put glitter glue on, beach toys, etc. It IS fun and looks good in the house, huh?

PS My Christmas tree is already up for the coming season (since I've never taken it down yet) LOL.

Barb Davis said...

Angie- The Easter tree goes up in a few days. Then perhaps a Mother's Day tree.

Hey, I've been known to keep the Christmas tree up for months after Christmas, too. It just extends the joy!

Riding my horse on an easy trail with nothing drawing my attention away from the view. Makes me want to lope off with the breeze in my face.

Barb Davis said...

Lea- I can just see you riding free, with the wind blowing through your hair. That must feel so good!
