Did not graduate from High School, do not have things like that over here. But oh the memories of Elvis. From one fan to another - he is still The King.
I graduated in 1964 and vividly remember all that you listed! Felt like a trip down memory lane! Elvis was my heart throb and so was Fabian. I still can sing all the words to West Side Story and wanted to be Maria!
What a great list, Barbara. And I love getting a glimpse of your teenage you! :) The year I graduated was the year I met my husband!
Hmm--I can't really remember the fadsf from that particular year but a year or so later I remember shag haircuts and painter pants!
That is a wonderful list of things to write about. You give such nice writing prompts. Do you lead a writing group??
The year I graduated, Billy Joel was really popular. I got my first car, a blue Chevy Nova, and went skiing for the first time!
I don't want to offend but 1962 is the year I was born. (If it is any consolation I did a post yesterday and most of my readers are 20 years younger than me) This was fun to see what was going on when I made my appearance.
Jeannette- Elvis was so international, wasn't he?
Donna- I loved Fabian, too!! Did you see him in North To Alaska?
Janna- I love lists. I think we can get a sense of ourselves from them.
Terri- I remember those.
Pat- I don't lead a group at this time, but I do love prompts.
Joanne- What fun!!
Debbie- Glad I could offer some info on your birth year!!
I graduated in 1986 - the thing I remember most is some of the movies - The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, stuff my kids and I still watch together even now. I cannot for the life of me remember how much gas was. I rode the Yellow Limo (read; school bus) everyday so I didn't even pay attention. I do remember a certain kind of jeans being $30 which to me still sounds like a lot today.
Michaele- 1986? I was just beginning to "bloom where I was planted."
I graduated in 1997. And that was a year early. To be honest, not a lot has changed since then.
Give me a few years, and then I'll be able to look back with a little more nostalgia.
Avily- You have so many memories yet to be made!!
Barbara-
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog: it was a pleasure to visit yours.
'62- GREAT year...I drink it in a crisp chardonnay often!!
:)
Lorrie
lorrie- Thanks for visiting. You're having a great giveaway.
77 was a great year, full of horrible fashions and hair-dos, and all that disco music. :)
Angie- Elvis died August 16, 1977. Couldn't believe he was actually gone. A sad time for his fans.
I certainly remember the disco music, too.
I graduated in 1956. Unfortunatley it was the year my father died. That makes it such a memorable year and not all favorable. I remember Bill Haley and the Commets singing Rock Around the Clock. I was before the Elvis craze although I likes him.
Lea- My husband really liked Bill Haleyand the Comets, Little Richard, etc.
