Angels All Around

Still in Spokane....

Last evening, on the way home from visiting Kendyl Grace at the children's hospital, we encountered thick fog. Jim slowed the car as we inched our way through the white, ghost-like mist. With tense bodies, and eyes completely focused on what little we could see of the two lane road, we eventually arrived at the ranch.

Our dangerous trek home reminded me of times I/we have been close to disaster and were protected by the unseen spirit world.

Several years ago, Jim and I made a summer shopping trip to Spokane. We drove our usual 55-60 miles per hour on the highway, except when passing at speeds of over 70. After arriving home, our daughter, who was living next door to us, ask to borrow our car. She needed to take her son to his friend's house- a slow, short drive away.

Shortly after she left, she called with bad news. The front axle of our car had fallen onto the pavement as she turned into the friend's driveway!! It was unbelievable. Jim nor I had driven the car since getting back from the Spokane trip. Not only was it unbelievable, it was miraculous!! We realized, then, we had been only two or three minutes from certain death.

I've thought of that experience many times since then and thanked God for his protection. How many times have we been carried in the arms of angels and didn't realize it until later?

***Has there been a time when you looked back and realized God's protection had been with you?

Wow! I love hearing how God has kept us from danger.
This past winter I was on the interstate drying to work. The roads had snow/ice on them and it was getting worse the closer I got. I started praying, looked up ahead and saw a salt truck spreading it on the road. I just started laughing and saying that's just how God works.

Wow! Wonder how many times we have been protected and have not even known it. That's why it is always good to stop at the end of each day and say a prayer of THANKS for the day's blessings--the ones we know about and the ones we don't know about.

Pat- That's such a good point you make. We just never know how many times we could have been in danger.

That is what I tell my kids. You don't know when you are being protected. I remember one time we were driving home from a Thanksgiving with my mother in Arizona. There was much snow and ice in the mountains of Oregon. I was driving and the car began to spin around. I called out to Jesus and the car stopped. The freeway that had been full had not a car in sight. It was scarey but we had to sit there and give thanks for protection.

What a great story and reminder. When stuck in traffic or other driving inconveniences, I try to remember it just might be God's way of keeping me out of danger a little further down the road.

I do believe that we are watched over. Driving in fog has to be the worst thing.

Angie- I am always saying that to my husband when we're on the road.

Jeannette- I think fog is right behind "black ice"...those two, frighten me.

Stories like this are so moving. We had an incident with an oncoming van veering head-on into our lane while driving, and at the very last second before we either were hit or drove off the road, it veered back to its own lane. If you click on the Cezanne's Carrot link on my blog sidebar, I tell this story, and the wonder of being saved without "seeing" the intervention.

Joanne- I'm going over there right now to read it!!
