Last summer I discovered I could ride a bike again after not being on one for many, many years. I eventually became confident in my riding skills and went out several times each week for rides along the river biking paths here in our area. I can hardly wait to get out there again and feel a fresh breeze on my face.
Last year I had a pretty purple 18-speed bike that I bought at Walmart. I still love that bike, but I decided one without speeds would be safer, since that's the kind I learned to ride years ago. I just like foot brakes, too. So for Christmas Jim bought me a Barbie pink beach cruiser that's sitting downstairs until good weather is here again.
(Barbie pink beach cruiser like the one I received for Christmas.)
I wish all of you could be here to ride with me along the bike path when the weather gets warmer, but for now.....
Ladies? Will the meeting please come to order?
I'm inviting you to join the "The Jackie O Virtual Pedal Pusher Club." The first meeting is being held right here at The Serenity Gate.
The first order of business is to set some club rules.
1. Each member must own a virtual bike. Any color will do.
2. Each member must own a pair of big Jackie O virtual sunglasses. Any color will do.
3. Each member must wear a bright colored virtual scarf on each bike ride. Any color will do.
So, let's get crazy and creative.....
It's your turn to add a rule or two, tell us about your virtual bike, where you would like to go and describe what you intend to wear on the club's virtual biking adventures.
Ladies, don't forget the Valentine's Day drawing. See rules below.

Sounds fun! My bike is almost the same as yours, but bright lemon yellow. And I've added a basket to the handlebars, so we can pack essentials like reading books and picnic foods. I'll be wearing a smashing long skirt and sweater, bobby socks and Keds. I'll have to get new Jackie O glasses, but have plenty of scarf choices. For the first trip, I'll wear my red bandana around my neck. Wouldn't it be fun to make a pilgrimage pedal to Grace Land? We can eat the Elvis Special of PBJ & banana sandwiches. :)
Angie- That sounds like soooo much fun. Oh, and the bright lemon yellow bike! We're going to have an exciting group. And I like how you dress, too!!!
Oh! So much fun!
My bike will be flaming fire engine red with lots of chrome. I'll have a basket on the front filled with a fluffy blanket for my dog to ride with me. My black saddle bags will hold a picnic blanket, goodies, a book, and a notebook and pen to jot down notes about my adventure.
I'll be wearing a matching outfit of red bermuda shorts and a black and red striped t-shirt. The silk white scarf will be wrapped around my neck and flying out in the breeze behind me.
I'm putting on my Jackie O sunglasses now and pedalling off to meet all of you for a wonderful adventure!
Mine will be baby blue and I will be wearing pedal pushers with my huge sunglasses and maybe a floppy hat to shade the sun as we have to have LOTS of that for the ride!
I love it! My bike is periwinkle, my scarf is the same color, only iridescent, and my glasses are reddish. I'll also be wearing my favorite "peddle pusher" capri pants. Let's ride, ladies!
I picture my first bike - a bright red bicycle - oh how I loved that bike! Riding in the rain - then having wet towel fights in the rain...
Ha ha! Forget virtual! I've had my eye on a powder blue beach cruiser for six months now and I'm pretty sure I can talk Hubby into dropping money on it for me come spring. because I LOVE riding a bike!
Oh -and I think RED lipstick should be added to the rules.
Donna- Oh, I like that you're going to take your dog!
Terri- That reminds me that we should take lots of sunscreen for the trip.
Janna- Pedal pushers and red sunglasses. How cool!!
Kathryn- I forgot that it may rain. So I think I'll take along a bright yellow slicker, just in case. And we may just have some of those towel fights, too.
Heather- I like the idea of red lipstick! So, ladies, add that to the rules.
My bike is bright turquoise color with a white wicker basket so Skeeter can go too. I will have on white capri's and a red large floppy shirt and a white scarf with long fringe. I will have on my red high tops. And red lipstick of course. Oh and the sunglasses either on my eyes or on the top of my head.
Lea- I love the red high tops.
I'm going to wear my blue jean cut-offs (rolled up) with a white tee. I'll have a hot pink polka dot scarf around my neck, big while Jackie O sunglasses and hot pink tennis shoes trimmed in sequins. And of course, red lipstick.
I'll also add a basket to the front of my bike, so that I can take a book, a camera, and a picnic lunch along.
TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED-
Thanks for a fun, creative day of fantasy biking. I enjoyed all of your descriptions of a perfect day together.
It was all in the spirit of fun.
Here's a post I wrote last summer about such a bike trip. This was an actual bike ride I took with hubby.
"Just imagine: Floppy hat with chin strap, long sleeved white linen blouse, bike shorts, white gloves, white socks and white oxford tennis shoes. Scent of sunscreen lotion ... and don't forget the sunglasses. What you might see me sporting while riding my bike around the lake this summer. Gosh, I'm turning into one of those delicate ladies that hides from the sun while out in the sun. I'm turning into my grandmother. Wait a minute. I am Jacob's grandmother. Oh joy!"
I can't wait to sport this outfit once again for a spin around our alpine lake.
Mrs. Mac- Your excursions around the lake sound wonderful. And how great it is for Jacob to have a grandma with such a healthy outlook on life!
Oh, how you are making me want to get my bicyle out of the basement and ride it again. It has been a while since I've done just that!
I still remember it's color, it's blue just like my childhood bike, but I want to get a wicker basket just like my childhood bike, and yes I'll wear a pink (my favorite color) scarf around my neck.
Jill
Jill- Get that bike out and ride with the wind in your hair and your pink scarf flowing with the breeze! Love the wicker basket idea. I may get one, too.
