An Extension Of Myself

"Man creates culture and through culture creates himself." -Pope John Paul II

*** What do you create that is an extension of yourself?

I create music & poetry--also lyrics--another form of poetry. I would love to learn to paint, too. I think animals can be extensions of us to some extent--though they have their basic natures. I do think we can be calming to them or build confidence in them. I guess the same would go our children. We can pass on a love of literature, history, politics, cooking, etc.

Linda- You are creating a beautifully poetic life in general, whether it be in your music, your writing, your animals, or your serene home.

I hope that I am creating a joyful homelife for my family. I also consider my writing to be creative, but it is something that others rarely see, so sometimes it does not seem like a very important creation in my life.

I enjoy cooking and am learning to knit--maybe more obvious signs of creation!

I hope the cards and photo albums I create mean something to the people I send them ,too.

Rose Mary- I think our families are the most important creation of all. Through them, memories, traditions, interests (even careers) and acts of love and caring are handed down from generation to generation.

Leslie- My mother created photo albums which were handed down before and after her death. What a treasure! However you wish to express your talent, it will bring joy, not only to yourself, but many others. Whatever the project, it's an act of love.

I know this is not a fun or unexpected answer, but my writing is absolutely an extension of myself. I'm so glad I have it as an outlet!

Janna- Writing is such a positive outlet for many women. Our written expression becomes much like children to us...like a birth, a baby that we nurture and take pride in.

Most of my good writing comes in quiet moments alone, sometimes even from a sad heart. Those are the private writings I don't share, because they are not trivia by any stretch. They are the precious things unseen by others.

Blessings to you Janna.

Writing is definitely an extension of myself as I question and observe and contemplate life around me. But I also like to think the peace of my home is an extension of myself, for my family, so that they always have that place to just be.

My children even though they are grown are a creation of what I am. I used to write but for some reason don't much. I do write in a journal every day, about lots of things from weather to my moods and whats going in around me. I will leave those to my children to read. I did write a story of my life so far and gave each of the children a copy for Christmas. It took me over a year to get it all done. My horses are important and I do create with them. I also send cards to people and make the cards. I want to take a class on card making.

Besides writing, my favorite extension of myself is to smile openly with care and welcome, to show others with my happy face that I acknowledge them with warmth as a fellow traveler in this world.

Joanne- If writing is an extension of yourself, you must be a extraordinary person. I love your posts each day.

Barb Davis said...

Lea- I bet you have had an exciting life with your family and your horses. You should publish that life story for all of us to read!!

Joy- I do like it when people smile at me. I don't see enough of it, though. Your comment will remind me to smile more. Thank you.

That's pretty deep. And so true. Lets hope we are creating love and kindness.

Heather- Love and kindness--the best of all.

I am not crafty like most, but I like writing on my blog. It is an outlet for me. I am here, and as long as I am breathing I am learning.

Becca- I appreciate what you say about blogging. It's a great outlet.
