My Hero

Yesterday my post was about other people's heroes. Today it's about my own.

Each one of my family members is my hero. I could go through each name and tell you they have had their share of adversity. I know because I have watched with my heart breaking, as they worked their way through the battles of their lives. But I won't tell their stories--those are their own, for them alone to tell, or not.

Today I want them to know that I'm celebrating the courage and strength that each person in my family has shown. I have learned so many lessons from watching them and each one has made me a stronger person by their example.

How special, Barbara! Thanks for sharing these thoughts with us.

I didn't comment yesterday, but my dad is my hero. He has dealt with debilitating disease for 20+ years, but without complaining or asking why. He's still the sweetest, most caring and thoughtful man I know. I sure love him!

Janna- It's truly amazing how resilient the human spirit is and how much it can teach us!
Perhaps that what suffering is all about.

So much in life has to do with perception, affecting how we feel. I like your idea of turning adversity into a positive thing, celebrating the strength and courage that comes from facing it.

Joanne- Most of my greatest lessons in life have come from adversity. Sometimes they are difficult "pills to swallow" but the lessons are precious.

Beautiful blog. I will be checking back daily. Thank you for sharing with others.
My hero is my Dad. He is a kind man that lets you live your own life, but is always there to help when needed. He is my earthly security blanke.
