Spring Is Popping Out All Over

The signs of spring are everywhere! Golden daffodils, tulips, irises,
and the cherry plum tree are in full bloom. Our dogwoods and lilacs have buds that will open in a couple of weeks.

Robins and mourning doves perch in the nearby trees, and along with scores of Western Wild Canaries, come to our feeder. Yesterday we had our first sighting of a hummingbird.

The bird feeder hangs from a tree limb about 30 feet from our sliding glass door, so Jim and I have a perfect view of the Canaries and a variety of other birds as they feed, almost constantly, throughout the day. We feel as though we are living in a wildlife preserve and loving every minute of it.

We are also privileged to have squirrels gather below the feeder to pick up the sunflower seeds the birds have rummaged through and that have fallen to the ground.

What a wonderful time of year, full of life and the promise of continuity.

***What special thing have you observed in your yard today?

We have been laughing at our squirrels. I gave my husband a bungee squirrel feeder where the squirrel jumps on the ears of corn and the thing bounces up and down. It is funny to watch.

Pat- I haven't heard of that type of squirrel feeder, but will look for one.

Finally some green leafy growth on the three corkscrew willows and our grass is green. That's it so far up here in the north country of Michigan! We're a little behind!

The Star Jasmine vine on my backyard wall is profuse in blooms as well as scent. I've also noticed a growing number of humming birds visiting. Sometimes they'll sit for a few seconds on a branch, and I'm simply mesmerized by their perfection & beauty, tiny though they are.

New spring growth on plants, trees and bushes we thought got killed during our cold snap here in Florida. Dad had cut them all back and we were just waiting to see what would happen.

Cindy- So happy to hear about the new growth.
