HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM

Today was Jim's (my husband) birthday! Our oldest daughter, Lori, came into town from Spokane for an overnight visit and to wish her dad a Happy Birthday. We, three, went out to dinner tonight and enjoyed lots of good food and conversation.

Tomorrow (Thursday) night, Becka, Tony, Matt, and Tilenna will be here for a belated party and Sunday afternoon, Linda, Mike, Shiloh, and Coleman are coming into town for a birthday visit. Jim says this is the first time he has had a birthday that went on for almost a week!! He is DELIGHTED.

Our family is very grateful for Jim. He is a wonderful and devoted husband and father.

How do you celebrate birthdays in your family?

Very traditional here, at home, at the dining room table with family, cake (always chocolate), coffee, talk, and of course, presents, with many glad wishes.

What a fortunate husband! We only celebrate our daughter's birthday and grandson's anymore. But we do the cake and presents and pictures!

Well, Happy Birthday to Jim! Sounds like he's blessed with a loving and thoughtful family. Hope the remaining celebrations are great!

One of my new daughters-in-law says that they celebrate birthday weeks in their family. Mine falls near hers and one of my granddaughters and all are around the 4th of July. We try to gather as a family during that time and celebrate those birthdays around that holiday time in the summer. I like the idea of having a Birthday Week!

Happy Birthday to dad! I'm looking forward to being down there Sunday. We celebrate birthdays like I did as a kid--the birthday person gets to choose the dinner for the night--we get as many family and friends as we can together, and we tell their birth story before the cake and presents.

Happy Birthday, Jim!

When I was a girl,we celebrated birthdays with just our family. Mom would cook the favorite meal of the birthday person. We had a cake with candles and gifts. Birthdays were among the very few days a year that we drank pop.

As an adult, I was amazed to find that some people actually have parties where they invite all their relatives and half the neighborhood.

Happy Birthday to you Jim. My husband of 51 years turns 70 in a week and a half. We will have a big family to do. Thats how we do it, birthday person picks dinner and we have a good time.

We're pretty low key about birthdays here in the Pacific Northwest. We miss our kids back home and fondly remember birthdays at the big dining room table....
