Buffet or Not?

I'm back from my trip to Spokane and I must say that Jim and I had a wonderful time with our daughters and grandchildren.

Jim and I like buffets, so we all went over to the Golden Corral for lunch. Some people like buffets and some don't. We happen to be two who do. Is it our age or what?

So that brings me to the question of the day.

How do you feel about buffets? Do you eat at them? Would you NEVER eat there? Tell us your feelings and don't be afraid to speak you mind!!

I like the idea of so many selections at a buffet, but my experience eating at them has left me preferring a regular "order off the menu" restaurant. I'm a vegan who loves her veggies done "al dente" and most buffets in my experience have all the veggies overcooked and tasteless.

We've eaten at the Golden Corral over in Tampa. It's pretty good food. I like being able to choose whatever I want.

Glad you had a great time visiting your daughters and grandchildren.

I'm a light eater at meals, so a sandwich or salad with a small side is usually enough for me, off the menu.

It depends where the buffet is and what the buffet has. When we go someplace that has one, I always go look at it before I make my choice for that or to order off the menu. Some in our area are really good and I wouldn't hesitate to try the buffet.

Not really a fan of buffets, however I am a fan of food in general! I prefer to sit and order from a menu and have my food brought to my table instead of rushing to beat the old folks and kids to the hot rolls! Bon appetit!!

We quit eating at buffets a while back as my husband couldn't just take a little!

Depends on the buffet- all you can eat Chinese buffets really frighten me (funny, I just had a conversation about this very topic this morning.)

There is a great lunch buffet at a hotel downtown by where I work. It is AMAZING- lots of soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts. High class stuff :)

Buffets are good because you can try so many things, you don't have to settle on one entree or appetizer.

Not really a fan of buffets unless it is a homemade soup, very fresh salad buffet. I am a picky eater, but mostly because I am trying hard to eat healthfully and make every calorie count. So buffets to me are "empty calories" for the most part and not worth the indulgence. But I can certainly appreciate why people love them! Glad you had such a fun trip! xo

I can understand why you would like a buffet--especially a good one, but often times, like this week when I'm preparing for a big trip--airplanes, hotels, lots of food, etc--I prefer to eat light--so a restaurant is more in line. As a general rule though, I don't like to eat out very often--I really enjoy cooking in my own home the very, very best--so when I do go out, I like to try new things to get new ideas--and I really like to enjoy the company (which is usually why we go out at all)--so atmosphere is also important! :)

Once in a while is OK but both Bob and I tend to overeat at a buffet. I eat so slowly that most people get tired of waiting on me. I would go out 5 out of 7 evenings. Actually prefer our big meal in the middle of the day. Had a nice time with Linda today. Sometime when you are in Spokane, lets have lunch - if that works for you. Just call, I am always ready to go.

Glad you had a good time in Spokane. I love buffets. We have two great ones in the town I live in...Golden Corral which is our favorite and Chuck-a-rama. They are both good. There are severalChinese buffets here as well. The only problem with buffets is that I eat too much when I go to a buffet. It always happens. So my vote is for buffets! I like them

Hi Everyone! Thanks for all the great comments about buffets. That was a fun way to get to know each other a little better.
