An Early Father's Day

Several of our family members will be unable to come home on Father's Day, so we celebrated yesterday (Saturday).

Our daughters Lori and Linda, and members of their families, came into town for a party for Dad Jim at daughter Becka's house. One of our sons had to work at his store and the other two are away serving their country in the military. We missed the three of them.

Grandma Lori and Grandpa Joe brought Kendyl Grace with them. She's now 8 months old and was just precious in her Barbie pink t-strap sundress. Of course, she was the center of attention as we all passed her around, watched every move she made, and laughed at her cute little gestures. She is the picture of health.

The kids gave Dad Jim a gift certificate to Cabela's for Father's Day, so he was a very happy camper!

It was difficult, as usual, watching everyone go back to their out-of-town homes after the party was over, but with God's blessing we'll see them all again soon.

Sounds like you had a good time. Family time is special anytime. Glad to hear Kendyl Grace is doing so good!

WF- Kendyl Grace was the "life of the party" and we couldn't take our eyes off of her. She is absolutely a living doll!

Great that you all could get together, never mind the calendar. We have few family get togethers because of the work schedules of the kids - there are four of us in this family and geeez you wouldn't think it would be hard, but it is! I sometimes envy large families - esp. on holidays!

suZen- Even in large families like ours, it's difficult to plan things. There's always several who are either out of the area and can't make it home, or have to work. On the rare times that we are all together it is such a wonderful treasured experience, especially, in this mother's heart.

It was a lot of fun! As usual, it was wonderful to get together. And Becka's BBQ chicken was MARVELOUS. Hopefully, we'll see you in a couple of days! ;)

And I should add, your rhubarb cake from your own rhubarb patch was a VERY SPECIAL TREAT! Makes me hungry thinking back on all the good food.

Linda- You are so right about the chicken. I don't eat a lot of meat, but that was exceptional, so I did eat all of it!

Linda- Thanks for the compliment on the cake. Your dad loves it (even though it does have sugar in the recipe), so I thought he and all of you would enjoy it. Glad you did.

What a blessing to be able to spend time together. I know how much I cherish being with my own family and how I miss them when we all go our own ways. Hope you have a great week!

Anita- I get to visit with two of my out-of-town daughters this Wednesday, so that makes me very happy.
Blessings.

T.Anne- Isn't it nice to get together, no matter the day or time? Jim just loved being with his children, even though the celebration was a little early.

Terri- Kendyl is a little toddler now and so sweet natured. I still remember when we were all praying for her recovery. And still thankful.
